Greens Senator for Victoria, Dr Richard Di Natale, has slammed the Baillieu government's support for a possible coal mine in Bacchus Marsh.
"Premier Baillieu has fast become the number one enemy of the environment," said Senator Di Natale.
"The Victorian government have declared war on wind farms and are throwing their support behind coal."
Lifelong Ballarat resident, social worker and community activist Belinda Coates has announced her intention to stand as a candidate in Ballarat City Council elections in October this year.
Ms Coates will stand for Central Ward, in which she won the second highest vote of 16 candidates in the 2008 election.
